Malaysian Dental Association (MDA) is the national professional body representing
dentists in Malaysia. Established in 1938 as the Malayan Dental Association and renamed
in 1963, MDA is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to advancing the art and
science of dentistry.

MDA’s mission is to promote high standards of dental practice, professional ethics,
and continuing education while safeguarding the interests of the dental profession
and improving oral health for the public. The Association serves as a key platform for
professional development, advocacy, and collaboration among dental practitioners.
Its core activities include organising scientific conventions, conferences, continuing
professional development programmes, and publishing professional journals and
educational materials. MDA also works closely with government agencies, specialist
dental bodies, educational institutions, and international organisations to support national
oral health initiatives and policy development.
Headquartered in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, MDA represents a significant portion of
Malaysia’s dental professionals and continues to play a vital role in shaping the future of
dentistry in Malaysia.

The Philippine Dental Association is a non-stock, non-profit association founded
in 1908. The PDA has its own Constitution & By-Laws and is duly registered with the
Securities & Exchange Commission. Its operation is guided by RA 9484 (The New Dental
Act signed by Her Excellency, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo last June 2, 2007) and
the Regulatory Code of Dental Practice.
